In a ceremony held in the Auditorium of the Technological Development Unit (UDT), the team of collaborators gathered to witness the official presentation of its new Executive Director, Dr. Juan Carlos Carrasco Moraga. The event was attended by distinguished authorities, including the Vice Rector for Research and Development of the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC), Dr. Andrea Rodriguez, and the Director of Development and Innovation, Dr. Jorge Carpinelli Pavisich.
One of the highlights was the intervention of Dr. Alex Berg, former Director of the UDT, who offered a historical perspective on the birth and evolution of the institution. In his speech, Dr. Berg emphasized the importance of UDT’s role in the scientific and technological development of the University, and its impact at the national and international level. He recalled the challenges and achievements that have marked the growth of UDT, consolidating it as a reference in innovation and technological development.
The Vice Rector, Dr. Andrea Rodríguez and Dr. Jorge Carpinelli also took the floor to highlight the fundamental role that the UDT plays within the University of Concepción. Both highlighted how the unit has contributed to position the university on the global map of science and technology, becoming a fundamental pillar for applied research and the development of advanced technological solutions.
Finally, Dr. Juan Carlos Carrasco, offered a warm greeting to those present, expressing his enthusiasm for taking on this new challenge. In his words, he expressed his commitment to continue with the legacy of excellence of the UDT, working together with the team to promote new projects that further strengthen the position of the institution globally.
With an outstanding track record in the management and direction of engineering projects, Juan Carlos Carrasco Moraga, PhD in Chemistry from West Virginia University, assumes the role of Executive Director of UDT. He has more than two decades of experience in research and development, having led innovative initiatives in areas such as environmental technologies and bioenergy. Previously, he served as Head of the Environmental Area at UDT and has collaborated with various industries in process optimization and sustainability. His vast experience promises a new impulse for UDT in its national and international projection.
