Description: The intermediate pyrolysis pilot plant consists of an inert atmosphere rotary kiln, built in Nigrofer 3220H ASTM B steel. The energy required for the pyrolysis reaction is delivered by ten liquefied gas burners. The coal generated in the process is deposited in boxes at the exit of the kiln and the gases are conducted to a hot sintered metal filter (20 microns) to separate the particulate material; subsequently, they pass through heat exchangers, where they are partially condensed and the bio-oil is recovered. The uncondensables are burned in a torch.
