Fast pyrolysis is a thermochemical process that converts various low-energy density solid waste into a combustible liquid with higher calorific value, easy to transport, store and distribute, decoupling the production and use of energy. The pyrolytic liquid or bio-oil is a new fuel with different characteristics and incompatible with fossil hydrocarbons, which has prevented, so far, its introduction to the market.
UDT’s challenge is the use of bio-oil as a raw material for the production of chemical products, materials and fuels, through a sequence of physical, chemical and/or thermochemical processes.
