The Technological Development Unit invites students of advanced courses in engineering, science or forest and natural technologies of the University of Concepcion to participate in the fifth version of the Student Exchange Program with the University of Maine in the United States.
Two students will be selected for a research stay of 9 weeks from June 6 to August 5 at the North American college and work in topics related to chemical / thermochemical biomass processing, development of new biomaterials or biofuels, and other issues related to biorefineries.
Applications from students who are in the final year of their studies in forest, chemical or natural sciences, and whose work at the University of Maine is complementary to their theses as part of the respective course of study, will be prioritized.
The requirements for applicants are: Advanced level of spoken and written English and be available to travel on June 4 to the United States (meeting all the requirements to obtain the corresponding Visa). The stay in the US ends on August 5, 2016, date on which the beneficiaries will return to Chile together with a group of North American students to visit for a week institutions and companies related to issues of interest in the Biobio Region. The student also undertakes to present the work done in the United States at a seminar in UDT during the week that the delegation of Maine will stay in Chile (August 6 to 12, 2016), and submit a report of the activities conducted in the North American University within a maximum period of 30 days after returning to Chile.
The program offers students round trip tickets to Maine, accommodation and a per diem of 650 USD.

- April 1: Publication of selected students
- June 6 – August 5: Internship at the University of Maine, United States (9 weeks)
- August 6 – 12: Participation in the technical visit of North American students to Chile
- September 5: Submission of the internship report at the University of Maine
