The obtaning of compounds with antioxidant properties and/or biological activity from low commercial value lignocellulosic matrices is another line of work of the Department. Raw materials under evaluation are solid waste from the wine industry and forest residues, and compounds of interest are mainly stilbenes and/or flavonoids. Along with evaluating different extraction conditions, the development of analytical methodologies to identify, quantify and characterize components is an ongoing work.
